School-Wide Assembly

This year at the Woodville, we've been holding a monthly school-wide assembly. Each assembly is tied in directly with the core values of our great school: Respect, Caring, Cooperation, Honesty, and Responsibility.

Today we celebrated CARING. To be a caring person, students learned to:
  • Treat people with kindness and generosity

  • Help people in need

  • Be sensitive to people’s feelings

  • Never be mean or hurtful
  • Think about how your actions will affect others

Always remember – we become caring people by doing caring things!

I read the book Corduroy, by Don Freeman and the students thought about ways that caring was demonstrated in the book.

Students received certificates for showing caring over the past month.

Our Fourth Grade students and teachers rewrote the words to YMCA to CARE. The lyrics are here:

C.A.R.E.

Young kids, there's no need to feel down
I said, young kids, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young kids, 'cause your in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy

Young kids, there's a place you can go
I said, young kids, it’s called Woodville you know
Y
ou can learn here, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E.
It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E
We have everything for young kids to enjoy.
You can hang out with all your friends.

It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E.
It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E
In your life you’ll succeed
You can help everyone
If you do all of your good deeds

Young kids, Are you listening to me
I said, young kids, what do you want to be
I said, young kids, you can make real your dreams,
but you've got to know this one thing.

No child, does it all by themselves
I said, young kids, put your pride in yourself
And just come here, you will all be okay.
I'm sure we can help you today.

It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E.
It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E
They have everything for young kids to enjoy.
You can hang out with all your friends.

It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E.
It's fun to show that you C.A.R.E
In your life you’ll succeed
You can help everyone
If you do all of your good deeds

Young kids, there's no need to feel down
I said, young kids, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young kids, 'cause your in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy

Young kids, there's a place you can go

Young kids, young kids, in your life you’ll succeed
Young kids, young kids, do all your good deeds

We ended the assembly like we end all of our assemblies with the singing of our two school songs: Talk it Out and Woodville School Spirit.
